The number of trains serving the Dubai metro will be doubled in April

The number of trains serving the passengers of the Dubai Metro will be doubled after seven new red line stations begin operating on April 25 this year. According to the press, Ramadan Abdullah, head of the Railway Transport Agency at the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority's (RTA) Rail Agency, the fleet of actively operating trains will be increased from 12 to 24 or 26 units, which should double reduce passenger time during peak hours.

The maximum waiting time for the train during peak hours is planned to be reduced from 10 to 6 minutes. The rest of the time, trains will arrive at the station with a 10-minute interval, as is currently happening. The RTA is also considering changing the metro operating mode, in particular with regard to the closure of the metro at midnight and its late opening on Friday at 14.00. Recall that the seven new Dubai Metro stations - Emirates Station, Airport Terminal 1 Station, GGICO Station (Al Garhoud), Al Karama Station, World Trade Center Station, Marina Station and Ibn Battuta Station, will open on April 25. To date, 11 out of 29 stations are operating and in late April there will be 18. The remaining eleven stations of the "red" line are planned to be commissioned before the end of this year.
