A vegetable kiosk for honest people appeared in Sharjah

The new vegetable kiosk with self-service items, which is located in the emirate of Sharjah, offers its customers to pay for the purchase by putting the amount for the goods in the money box.

The new “Vegetables Without a Seller” kiosk near a medical center in the Maliha district of Sharjah Emirate offers its customers to pay for their purchases by putting the necessary amount in a box for money after they have taken the goods.

The kiosk with self-service items, which began its work on February 24 as a social experiment, actually checks the honesty of customers. There are no employees and video surveillance cameras at the kiosk, so non-payment for the goods remains on the buyer's conscience.

Salem Sultan Al Qaedi, the landlord, said the kiosk sold organic vegetables and fruits grown on his farm at better prices. Fresh vegetables, such as zucchini, tomatoes, eggplant, cucumbers, several types of pepper, herbs and local buckthorn, are brought into the kiosk, which runs from 8-30 to 19-00, three to four times a day. Soon dates and fruits will appear in the assortment of the kiosk.

Answering questions from correspondents, Salem said that in some European countries such kiosks are normal, so he decided to implement this idea in the UAE.

"The goal of this project is not to make huge profits, but to build trust and honesty among members of the community," Al Qaedi said.
