Today in the UAE will celebrate Women's Day

Last month, Her Highness Sheikh Fatima Bint Mubarak, Chairperson of the General Union of Women and the Family Development Fund, announced the approval of a new holiday, which will be held annually on August 28.

The date, August 28, was chosen in honor of the fortieth anniversary of the General Union of Women, which was founded in 1975, and thereby guaranteed gender equality and the elimination of all forms of social, cultural and political discrimination against women.

This year, the first festive events will be held in honor of the mothers of martyr heroes and women soldiers who have refused comfort and luxury in order to protect their homeland.
