Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashed Al Maktoum became the Vice President of the United Arab Emirates and the Head of the Emirate Government. The old government is dissolved.

The High Federation Council today elected the new ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashed Al Maktoum, as vice president of the country.

The Council, composed of the rulers of the seven emirates forming a federal state, also approved the proposal of the UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed to entrust Sheikh Muhammad with the leadership of the emirate government. In accordance with this decision, the previous composition of the Cabinet of Ministers of the UAE was dissolved.

Dubai Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashed Al Maktoum will form the new government of the United Arab Emirates.

The 56-year-old Crown Prince of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed Al Maktoum, who served in the federal government as Minister of Defense, became the ruler of Dubai after the death of his elder brother Maktoum Al Maktoum, who ruled this emirate.
