Dubai Police Check Blue Whale Information

Dubai police have provided an official comment on the spread of information about the dangerous game "Blue Whale".

Last week, the Khaleej Times shared information about the disturbing message shared by parents of students in Dubai on the WhatsApp messenger. It warned against the dangerous game "Blue Whale" on social networks, which is associated with dozens of suicide cases of teenagers from Russia.

During the Blue Whale game, participants are offered dangerous tasks, the last of which is suicide.

Colonel Saeed Al Hajiri, director of the anti-cybercrime unit at the Dubai Police, confirmed to the Khaleej Times that there were no reports of suicides in the UAE or about people who became participants in the game.

“The police will monitor the situation on the Internet to prevent any use of children in the interests of others, and will continue to disseminate information about negative or dangerous actions that take place online and carry a public risk,” Al Hajiri said.

Khaleej Times employees also tried to contact the organizers of the so-called "death groups" on the social network Vkontakte, where, according to their information, a dangerous game originated. They concluded that the Blue Whale is nothing more than an urban myth.
