The largest UAE mosque in Abu Dhabi has opened the door for everyone

The Department of Tourism of Abu Dhabi (ADTA) announced the launch of regular organized sightseeing tours of one of the largest Muslim temples in the world - the Mosque named after Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al-Nahyan, called to tell visitors about the religious and cultural heritage of the Emirates.

And first of all, not according to the scope of construction, which occupied more than 22,000 square meters of area, but according to purpose: to pay tribute to the father of the nation and the great man, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al-Nahyan, the first president of the UAE.

The construction of the mosque took several years. Today, a building with dazzling white domes and sharp minarets is clearly visible within a radius of several kilometers. Extremely simple on the outside, the mosque amazes with its interior decoration, the creation of which was attended by masters from around the world. Here are collected unique creations of human hands: the floor of the prayer hall is covered by the world's largest woven carpet from Iran, with an area of ​​7,119 sq. m, and the ceiling is decorated with the world's largest chandelier, the creation of which German experts spent more than a million Swarovski crystals. The design used 24 types of marble and a lot of 24 carat gold.

A visit to this mosque is only possible as part of an organized group, accompanied by a qualified guide. During the tour tells about the history of the UAE, Islamic and cultural traditions of the country. Visitors are allowed to take photos. The first four excursions for the public took place on February 21 on International Tour Guide Day. From March, excursions will be held daily, from Saturday to Thursday inclusive, and completely free of charge.

The tour takes from 30 to 90 minutes and starts strictly at 10.00 in the morning, you must be at the place no later than 9.45. Since the mosque is operational, you need to wear loose clothing that does not emphasize the shape of the body and closes it as much as possible. Women must cover their heads with a handkerchief. Shoes will need to be removed in front of the front door. The administration reserves the right to refuse visits to anyone who violates the dress code.
