Dubai will spend $ 2.5 billion on road improvements

Since 2006, Dubai has launched 24 projects for the construction of new roads, bridges, tunnels and junctions in order to facilitate traffic. The total cost of the projects is 9 billion dirhams (about 2.5 billion dollars).

New transportation projects are part of Dubai’s Department of Roads and Transportation’s strategy to keep up with the times and meet the growing role of Dubai as an international tourism and business center.

According to the Department of Roads and Transport, annual traffic growth is 25%, which is the highest in the world. With this in mind, revolutionary changes await the Dubai network of roads in the next two years. So, as a result of the implementation of one of the projects, a two-level road junction will appear at the intersection of Doha Street, Sheikh Zayed highway and Al Khail Road. It is also planned to build a 15 km road corridor along the Sheikh Zayed highway.
