A man was sentenced to fifteen years in prison for raping a woman in a shopping center.
The man was sentenced to 15 years in prison for raping a cleaning lady in the toilet of a shopping center while drunk.
In May, a trial court ruled that a 48-year-old man from India was guilty of raping a 26-year-old Nepal citizen. The man forced the woman into the toilet room, hit her, and then abused.
Before committing this crime, the man drank three bottles of whiskey.
The Court of Appeal found him guilty of rape and alcohol without permission and ordered his deportation after serving the prison term.
“I was in the dressing room of the shopping center at 2 a.m. when I saw this man reflected in the mirror. I turned around and asked him what he was doing in the women's toilet,” the victim says.
The girl wanted to leave, but the criminal stopped her and grabbed the mobile phone from her hands. The victim did not even have time to scream, the man pushed her into the toilet cubicle, closed his mouth with one hand and hit her face several times, then tore off her clothes and raped her.
Hearing the voices of people near the restroom, the man ran away. Arriving soon at the crime scene, the police took the girl to the hospital.
On the same day at 15:00 the accused was arrested.
"I saw how the injured woman was sobbing in the ambulance, she was very ill," said the lieutenant to the police. "The accused was arrested in the parking lot where he was hiding, during interrogation he claimed that the woman herself took off her clothes and entered into an intimate relationship voluntarily. He also stated that he hit her after she scolded him," the lieutenant added.
A forensic report showed that traces of the criminal’s DNA were found on the victim’s body.
The accused may challenge the court decision within 30 days in the Court of Cassation.
