The man who raped and killed an eight-year-old boy was executed in Dubai.
Nedal Issa Abdullah was executed on Thursday, November 23, 2017, after being convicted of the murder and rape of eight-year-old Obeida Al Abrabawi.
Abdullah's latest appeal was dismissed in February at the Dubai Court of Cassation.
Obeida was abducted on May 20, 2016 when he was playing near his father’s garage in the industrial zone of the Emirate of Sharjah. His body was found two days later on Academic City Road in Al Warqa.
During the trial, Abdullah admitted that he had consumed excessive amounts of alcohol that day and strangled the boy. He was also charged with raping a child, but the defendant denied the fact of sexual violence and abduction, saying that the boy himself got into his car.
The defendant's defender requested an examination of the psychological state of the man. It was found that he suffered from personality disorder and alcohol dependence, but this does not affect his perception of reality. Thus, he is fully responsible for his actions.
The death sentence in the UAE is carried out by execution.
