Dubai Accidents Will Be Disposed In Less Than 12 Minutes

Dubai Police and the Emirate’s Highway Authority are developing a plan to avoid traffic jams.

The Dubai Highway and Transportation Authority (RTA) and the emirate’s police plan to implement measures that will reduce the time to get rid of the consequences of road accidents to 12 minutes. The project is also expected to reduce congestion and associated costs by 25 percent.

Detailed information about the project was discussed at a meeting of RTA General Director and Chairman of the Board Mattar Al Thayer and Major General Abdullah Khalifa Al-Marri, Commander-in-Chief of the Dubai Police.

The meeting also focused on regulating traffic during major events in Dubai, on the safety of public transport and strengthening measures to ensure compliance with traffic rules by truck drivers when driving in residential areas.

The project is part of the RTA plan to reduce the time spent responding to traffic accidents and return to normal traffic as soon as possible.

Al-Thayer and Al-Marri discussed complex sites in residential areas bordering Sharjah, such as Al Mizhar, Al Khawaneej, Oud Al Mateena and Al Muhaisna. The theme was raised of building a road network connecting Dubai and the northern emirates, and ensuring a ban on the movement of trucks and buses with workers in residential areas adjacent to the northern emirates.

The RTA also introduced road modernization projects aimed at unloading Emirates Road, for example, by expanding Tripoli Street, Al Khawaneej Street, Airport Street and Al Awir Road.
