Dubai Port Operator wants to extend cruise season by two months

DP World intends to reduce port charges to extend Dubai's cruise season by two months.

DP World, the operator of Port Rashid and the Dubai Cruise Terminal, said it would significantly reduce port charges on cruise lines to extend the cruise season by two months.

"The current cruise season in the Middle East usually runs from November to April," said Omar Sharif Al-Marzuki, Cruise Business and Operations Manager at DP World.

"The discount will apply to all cruise ships calling at Dubai ports from October to May," he added.

Al-Marzuki spoke at the Seatrade Middle East Cruise Forum, where the announcement was warmly received by cruise line leaders who said the initiative would improve the situation in the Middle East region.

Some operators would like the offer to be extended beyond May.
