The pilot of a balloon crash in the UAE pleaded not guilty

In Dubai, a case is being heard about a balloon falling from a height of 50 meters, as a result of which several tourists were seriously injured.

In Dubai, the case of a balloon pilot is being heard, who may be recognized as the main culprit of the crash that occurred on February 15, 2016. Then the balloon with tourists on board fell from a height of 50 meters.

The defendant, a 36-year-old Egyptian, was flying a balloon with a group of 20 tourists on board. When landing after a 45-minute sightseeing tour, the balloon suddenly began to rise again, presumably due to the erroneous actions of the pilot. Trying to prevent the rise, the accused undertook a series of maneuvers, as a result of which the balloon completely lost control and at high speed collided with the ground in the area of Al Faqa police station.

Three tourists were seriously injured. One of them had a broken leg, and two more had a permanent disability.

One of the participants in the accident testifies that on the day of the flight tourists paid the pilot's attention to bad weather - that day there was a thick fog. The accused insisted that he already had experience controlling the ball in such conditions and there was no reason to cancel the flight.

At the court hearings, the pilot rejected all the charges against him, saying that he acted in accordance with all the instructions when landing.

The case file also contains the testimony of the accused, indicating that there were problems with his family at home, because of which he needed to return home, however, on the day of the crash, he learned that the leadership refused to leave him.
