Emirates Introduces New Rules for Hand Luggage

Emirates Airline introduces an additional check on hand baggage.

Dubai, UAE. Emirates Airline, the UAE’s national carrier, is introducing an enhanced security procedure for hand luggage for passengers traveling in a number of destinations. In particular, the new inspection rules have already entered into force for those traveling to / from Australia and New Zealand, as well as to / from the United States.

Bulk products such as flour, spices, coffee, milk powder or cosmetics - in containers of not more than 350 ml, can be subjected to more thorough inspection or confiscated at Dubai airports. This rule, by the way, entered into force on June 20.

For passengers traveling to the United States: the bulk cargoes mentioned above are not allowed in hand luggage. To avoid delays, such goods should be baggage in advance. The restrictions do not include: baby food, prescription drugs, and human ashes.

Bulk substances purchased in duty-free shops are allowed in branded closed bags with a receipt. It is worth recalling that since the beginning of the year laptops with built-in lithium batteries have been banned for carrying on hand luggage on flights to the USA. Such cargo can be taken to the cabin if it is very small and the battery can be pulled out.

The UK government, in turn, will allow travelers to transport milk and liquid baby food only when carrying the child. This rule applies to baby water, soy milk and complementary foods.
