UAE authorities have announced an additional day off on the occasion of the Islamic New Year.
Dubai, UAE. The UAE Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization declared the first day of the Islamic month of Muharram an official day off for public and private sector workers in connection with the celebration of the Islamic New Year, or New Year's Hijri.
Presumably the Islamic New Year (1440th) will come on Thursday, September 13, when a young moon appears in the sky (as expected). Thus, the next working week will be short for residents of the UAE, the first working day after the holiday will be Sunday, September 16th.
