UAE indigenous people drive Uber for the first time

For the first time, indigenous people in the UAE got behind the wheel of a private Uber taxi service.

Dubai, UAE. Citizens of the United Arab Emirates for the first time became drivers of a private taxi Uber, the press service of the service said. The first official driver of the service was an emirate named Abid Al-Blushi, who will serve passengers in a private Mini Cooper car in Abu Dhabi.

It is worth recalling that the Uber service resumed its work in the UAE capital in December 2018. Today, any owner of a driver’s license over the age of 21 can become a private taxi driver. Abid Al-Blushi is confident that his compatriots will follow his example.

It should be noted that the cost of Uber services in the emirate capital under the new agreement will be 30% higher than city taxi services. Previously, authorities insisted that the cost should be higher by 50%, but during the negotiations, rates were reduced.
