A fisherman from the UAE caught a shark weighing 347 kg

A fisherman from the UAE faces sanctions for catching a three-meter shark.

Dubai, UAE. The Emirate fisherman caught 347 kg of bull shark in the coastal waters of Fujairah, and now he is facing a deprivation of fishing rights, the Ministry of Climate and Environment said.

The incident occurred on February 16, 64 km from the coast. Three fishermen tried to cope with a three-meter sea predator for two hours. According to environmentalists, the shark was pregnant - 15 embryos were found in her uterus. This became clear after she was taken ashore and gutted.

Zoodefenders were outraged by the fact that the shark was caught in the breeding season. However, the fisherman justifies the fact that the moratorium on fishing this year comes into force only on March 1, and not on February 1, as last year.

Emirate Eid Suleiman said that he decided to catch a shark after numerous complaints of fishermen who claimed that she eats their catch. The first time he faces a warning, however, if the violation occurs again, his license will be revoked for six months.
