Blockchain will simplify the receipt of medical care by residents of Dubai

The Dubai Health Administration will launch an online portal to streamline the process of receiving medical care in the emirate.

Thanks to the new Internet portal, which will be launched this month in the UAE, which will unite all private and state clinics in Dubai, residents of the emirate will be able to find out the cost of treatment, make an appointment and arrange insurance online.

The first healthcare facilities on DubaiHealthBooking.com will include the Hatt Hospital Pediatric Unit and the Al Twar and Al Manqul Primary Care Centers for Family Medicine. DHL specialists promise that all existing medical facilities in Dubai should be added to the portal by the end of 2019.

It is noted that on the website, patients will also be able to rate doctors as part of a program conducted by the Dubai Health Authority (DHA), aimed at improving the quality of medical services. At the same time, doctors will not be able to influence the assessment, the validity of which will be checked by management staff before publication. "This platform will allow patients to search for a specialty, a specific doctor or center and make an appointment for a consultation. It will also show patients whether insurance covers the selected medical institution and assess the quality of services provided," said Maisa Al Bustani, head of the DHA innovation team.

"The system works with artificial intelligence, so licensing applications from healthcare providers and clinics will be processed much faster," said Marwan Al Mullah, general manager of DHA's health department. Previously, when requests for medical assistance were processed manually, approval could take up to four weeks, and using the new method based on blockchain technology, it would take only five minutes.

"In order to use the services of the new system, doctors and other specialists will not necessarily be in the UAE, they can control the process even outside the country," added Dr. Al Mullah.
