UFC Signs Five-Year Contract With Abu Dhabi

The UFC Absolute Fighting Championship and the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority signed a 5-year contract.

Dubai, UAE. Sports promoter The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority have signed a five-year agreement, according to which professional and spectacular mixed martial arts fights will return to the UAE capital for the first time since 2014.

The first fight (UFC 242) will take place on Saturday, September 7, at the du Arena stadium on the island of Yas, its broadcast will be conducted around the world. The battle will be preceded by a week of weigh-in, open training and press conferences, as well as a variety of entertainment for the public.

It is planned that in the first fight in the octagon, the current UFC lightweight champion Russian Khabib Nurmagomedov will fight, who will fight with Dustin Porie, but this information has not yet been confirmed.

"We build relationships with Abu Dhabi because we record outstanding success in the market. The request from our fans is staggering. They ask us to return the UFC to the UAE. In the next five years, Abu Dhabi will help us to have bright title fights," the UFC president said Dana White.
