UAE Airline Turns Its Billboards Into Humanitarian Aid

On World Environment Day, Emirates from the United Arab Emirates sent its billboards for recycling.

In honor of World Environment Day, which was celebrated worldwide on June 5, Emirates from the UAE turned its billboards in South Africa into hundreds of school bags and backpacks donated to the local school Emfundisweni Primary School.

A total of 517 square meters of PVC material was collected and shipped to Johannesburg, where a local entrepreneur recycled it. In total, Emirates managed to collect 200 school bags and 125 shopping bags.

Fuad Kaunier, Emirates Regional Manager for South Africa, emphasized that this initiative also reduces the company's carbon footprint by reusing material. He also recalled Emirates’s other environmental measures: the use of environmentally friendly blankets made from recycled bottles, as well as the fuel-efficient fleet.
