SURFING

Experienced athletes know that an ocean wave is needed to improve skills, and the Persian Gulf is quite suitable for a start. You can learn the basics of surfing and let adrenaline flow into the blood at Wadi Adventure Water Park. On a three-meter "simulator" you can hone the technique, catch the balance and learn how to deal with the elements.

WAKE BOARDING

This extreme sport combines elements of slalom skiing, acrobatics and jumping. In fact, it is a combination of skateboarding, water skiing, snowboarding and surfing and has recently been actively developed in the UAE. In closed water, cable wakeboarding is actively practiced, as well as nibording (when skating is carried out while standing on a knee-board). In open water you can ride a boat. Professionals perform acrobatic stunts on the water.

KAYAKING

Kayaking through the vast mangroves in Abu Dhabi is a great way to start your day off. Here you can find playing dolphins, exotic birds and reptiles, and on the islands find long burrows of dwarf foxes. Rowing in a single plastic boat does not require any sports training, and can be done by the most ordinary beach tourist.

WAKESURFING

Skating on a board without anchorages behind a towing boat is a "home" simulation of classic surfing. On the one hand, the boat is loaded with ballast, which allows you to create a large wave. The athlete starts out of the water on a short rope, and after gaining speed, he glides along the wave independently. Wakesurfing creates the feeling of independent riding on the wave. Among the advantages is that you can study at any place and at any time of the year.

SHARK SAFARI

If you like exoticism, but you don’t have a diving certificate, go hunting for sharks. The Aquaventure water park in the famous Atlantis The Palm resort offers you to walk along the bottom of the aquarium in a special helmet (you don’t even need to be able to swim), and the biggest shopping mall The Dubai Mail will offer you an immersion in the aquarium in a special cage. Thus, you will find yourself side by side with marine predators. The cage can accommodate up to four people at the same time, while the GoPro camera shooting service is offered.

Cost: from 275 dirhams per person

Flyboarding

This water-air sport has gained particular popularity in the UAE, including due to the fact that His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai, is fond of him. The original design was invented by the champion of France in aquabike Frankie Zapata. Thanks to the board with water-jet boots fixed on it and a hose attached to it through which water is pumped, an athlete can fly up into the sky like a dolphin, gaining a height of up to 9 meters, and perform acrobatic stunts in the air. Special handles help stabilize the situation.

The history of dragon boat racing began in China more than 2 thousand years ago. The boat is a canoe for 20 seats with the head and tail of a dragon. Every year, races take place in the bay of Dubai Festival City or near the Shangri-La Hotel in Abu Dhabi and gather thousands of participants. Competitions are held among men's, women's and mixed teams at distances of 200,500, 1,000 and 2,000 m. Anyone can take part in the races.

One of the most spectacular water sports is water movement under the influence of the traction force of a controlled kite, or kite. Kitesurfing gives speed, delight and incredible emotions. You can deal with it at any age and at any level of training. The main task is to learn how to control yourself, wind and water at the same time.

In the heart of Dubai, at the Jurneirah Beach Hotel, there is a diving center offering a variety of programs from simple snorkelling for beginners to courses for professional instructors. Diving training takes place in the pools, and the final dive for certification is done in the Persian Gulf or on the majestic Musandam Peninsula, one of the best diving sites in the region.
