ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL TENNISISTS IN THE WORLD AND THE PRIDE OF THE RUSSIAN NATION TELL OUR JOURNAL ABOUT ITS ADDITIONS IN FOOD, LIFE POSITION AND WHAT IT PREFERDS TO LIVE FOR PRESENT.

Mary, where is your house now?

Maria: My permanent home is in Florida, but when schedule allows, I spend time in southern California.

Would you like to live somewhere else?

Maria: You know, life in such beautiful places with invariably excellent weather spoiled me. But I love the rhythm of big cities - in New York and Paris even my heart beats more often! There you live at a different pace, at some completely different level of energy and enthusiasm!

Can you tell us what your home looks like?

Maria: I'll be honest, everything is pretty minimalistic there. I believe that a home should be a refuge, a place where you can put your thoughts in order and devote time to yourself in your free time.

What time do you get up in the morning?

Maria: I usually wake up very early: getting up at 6 in the morning is completely natural for me. True, it’s not easy to adhere to such a schedule when you have to change time zones.

And where does your day begin?

Maria: If I'm at home, the first thing that awaits me is a walk with the dog along the beach and a cup of coffee.

How much time do you need to get dressed and pack?

Maria: When you travel so much, and even bear responsibility to your partners, you have to be able to get together very quickly! But to prepare for various celebrations, I have an excellent team - I affectionately call them "my glamorous detachment." These guys work wonders, and after their work I can be transferred from the court directly to the red carpet!

What part of your life do you devote to training?

Maria: I start training early in the morning, then I have lunch and rest a bit. I have to combine training and my responsibilities to business partners (TAG Heuer, Nike, Evian, Head, Porsche, Avon). And, of course, I do not forget my brand of sweets Sugarpova. As you can see, I never get bored - new interesting and challenging activities are found every day.

Do you believe that discipline is the key to success?

Maria: Of course. Discipline is what distinguishes a professional athlete. Yes, I have to sacrifice something - I can’t, for example, go to bed late with impunity or miss workouts, all this affects my physical form. So without strict adherence to the regime, nowhere.

Do you spend more time alone or with other people?

Maria: I think with other people. I have a very friendly and close-knit team, and since I am involved in a huge number of projects, I constantly need to plan and clarify everything.

How do you feel this year ahead of Wimbledon?

Maria: This year I won the French Open for the second time, and this gives me a great advantage over Wimbledon. Victory means a lot to me.

But as soon as I put the Cup on the shelf, I concentrate and direct all my mental and physical forces to prepare for the new competition.

You have been the TAG Heuer brand ambassador for many years.

Maria: I think TAG Heuer products are suitable for those who, like me, are in constant motion. This watch for me is first of all the embodiment of quality. The craftsmanship and versatility of the products of this brand simply have no equal, so, of course, I am glad to be able to work with them. For example, I can put on my favorite TAG Heuer ceramic watch and calmly go to the court, to a business meeting, and to the red carpet. The same can be said of other brand accessories.

Do you follow the latest fashion trends and do you have your favorite designers?

Maria: I follow fashion and adore it, with great interest watching the shows of new collections. I especially like Lanvin, Vera Wang, Proenza Schouler, Alexander McQueen, Marc Jacobs, Rag & Bone.

Can you say what you like most about yourself?

Maria: I would say strength. Physical strength, if we talk about tennis, and a kind of core, internal, mental strength, which manifests itself in all areas of my life, but especially in the ability to conduct business.

Share some exercise tips with us.

Maria: I always say - everything should be in moderation. Usually people think that in order to achieve a result, they must torture themselves to the loss of a pulse, but they forget that it is equally important to encourage yourself - this helps to focus on the goal and move forward.

How could you describe your culinary paradise and hell?

Maria: Let my inner sweet tooth answer this question! I love sweets and other sweets - this will probably be my pastry paradise. But hell is airplane food every day until the end of life.

What are five things you could not do without?

Maria: It's hard to limit myself to just five, but I'll try. Let it be: a skin care product, my Nike tennis bag with all its contents, the jewelry box my grandmother gave me, a white ceramic TAG Heuer watch and my dog Dolce!
