Making taxi calls with your smartphone even easier

A new application for calling a taxi using a smartphone - SmartTaxi - has become available for use in Dubai. The free application can be downloaded from Google Play, register in it, activate it on your smartphone and just wave it, as the passenger waves, stopping the taxi.

The application will determine the GPS coordinates of the passenger and transmit this information to the dispatch center by sending the order number to the passenger. After determining the nearest free car, the center will send it on a call, and the passenger will receive an SMS with the car number and information about the driver. He will be able to track the approach of a taxi on the map. Using this application will not entail additional costs compared to calling a taxi by phone, and the passenger will not have to wait for a free dispatcher on the line and describe his location. Starting in July, the SmartTaxi application can be used to call a taxi in advance. Currently, Dubai's taxi fleet consists of 8,997 vehicles. Last year, Dubai taxis made more than 175 million paid trips.
