Friendly radars appear on Dubai's highways

More than 500 friendly radars are installed on various routes of the emirate of Dubai.

Dubai, UAE. Dubai police installed more than 500 new type of radars on the emirate's tracks - their task is to warn drivers about approaching with a speed limit. As conceived, friendly radars take pictures of cars when they have not yet violated the speed limit, but have come close to the limit.

The police believe that this will force drivers to slow down and, as a result, avoid real fines. According to Major General Mohammed Safe Al Zafin, head of the Federal Road Traffic Council and deputy head of the Dubai Police for Operations, unlike conventional radars, new mobile installations and their flashes should not bother motorists, even if they are installed every two meter.

The representative of the Dubai police recalled that inattentive driving was the first cause of a road accident with fatalities on Dubai's highways in 2016, sudden restructuring in second place, and non-observance of the distance between cars in third. “Inaccurate driving caused 60% of all fatal car accidents in 2016, namely it caused the death of 41 people and 258 injuries,” says Al Zafin. person".

Another factor in the increased accident rate, police say, was speeding. The ministry notes that mostly drivers aged 28 to 38 years (71 people died) fall into fatal accidents, while the emirate believes that very young and inexperienced drivers provoke accidents. This is what statistics show, Major General said, age is far from the only factor affecting the safety of driving a vehicle.
