Dubai launches the first virtual fashion week in the world

Dubai's industry-specific advice is about to launch the first “virtual fashion week” in support of designers.

The Islamic Fashion and Design Council (IFDC) from Dubai launched a new initiative to support designers from around the world - Pret-A-Cover Fashion Week (PACFW), presented as “the world's first virtual fashion week”.

Pret-A-Cover Fashion Week is the successor to IFDC's Pret-A-Cover program, which created specialized sections in stores.

PACFW takes the essence of traditional fashion week into an online format, says IFDC Chairman Aliya Khan. According to her, the virtual platform simplifies the conditions for designers to participate, combining them with customers, merchandisers, shops and consumers, as well as providing them with ample opportunities for commercialization.

“It is time for a change in how we interact with fashion so that more designers can easily enter our exciting market,” she said.

“With the help of PACFW, we intend to offer equal opportunities for all professionals and businesses without the problems that usually accompany fashion weeks. We hope that this and several other initiatives that we plan to introduce will change the way that a business can conduct its business in the fashion world, ”she added.

Along with a demonstration of the work of designers at PACFW, there will be virtual and interactive group discussions with leading representatives of the modern fashion industry.
