Just a hobby - or a vocation?

Collectors are often considered people "out of this world." And in fact, that just does not turn out to be the subject of their interest: beer cans, match labels, lottery tickets, bone figures, penknives, metro schemes ... Any of them can talk about the subject of their "passion" for hours, and the conversation of two such characters on its comprehensibility to others is comparable to a conversation between two programmers.

In everyday life, we often come across foreign brands and coins. However, as a rule, envelopes from letters from abroad are immediately thrown away, and a trifle accidentally brought from Turkey or the Crimea is lying somewhere under the refrigerator, and then only until the first general cleaning. We seem to ourselves serious adults who should not be interested in such trifling objects.

However, in the depths of the soul of every adult, a child lives. Remember how long you boasted in the classroom an iridescent “calendar”? A candy wrapper from imported chewing gum? At that time, your parents were proud of more expensive toys: crystal vases, deer horns and "scrap" collected works. You, in protest against this "philistinism", must have collected empty bottles and cigarette packs in your youth - not to mention cassettes with the latest albums of fashionable rock bands.

So do not blame those who, despite all the changes in their destiny and social fashion, carried their passion through life. One of these hobbies, combining a freaky little peanut with a respectable gentleman, is picking up car models. Even if your boss is a born humanist, he probably will not refuse to decorate his table with, say, a miniature copy of the first Soviet tractor.

Smart things

If your child drags any junk from your garbage dump, do not rush to scold him: perhaps an antiques expert will grow out of him. It is for these children, who have just matured, that the exhibition, recently held in Bar Dubai under the roof of the BurJuman shopping center, is intended. The guests of the shopping complex were offered old brands, cameras, porcelain dishes and matchboxes.

Now, without hesitation, we use disposable bags, dishes, pens, lighters .... Meanwhile, things that have become commonplace today have enjoyed much more respect among our ancestors. Figuratively speaking, they had their own names. Bought after much thought and "tightening their belts", they were carefully passed from hand to hand, from grandmother to granddaughter, and paid their owners gratitude. Expressed in modern language, they accumulated information about the owners and broadcast their positive energy.

“Such an event,” said Sabina Handwani, director of the marketing center for the shopping center, “gives our customers a rare opportunity to see unique pieces from private collections. Those locals who have kindly agreed to participate in the exhibition treat their passion with great trepidation; caring people, we are now opening our doors. "

Among these enthusiasts is Muhammad Rashid, whose collection of rare stamps of colonial India was on display opposite Cinnabon Cafe. It’s also Joseph Ponnu: his collection of antiques has more than 200 items, including a telephone “born” in 1920, a century-old camera and thousand-year-old Chinese porcelain. Vasim Ahsan Jamil did not go unnoticed with his matchboxes and, of course, Suheil al-Zaruni with his gigantic collection of miniature cars. And fans of fine art appreciated the exhibition of rare paintings, including works of the beginning of the last century.

From antiquity to modernity

Not only toy cars were on display at the BurJuman mall. Buyers saw seven very real "iron horses", including the classic Mercedes Benz of 1971, the 1936 Bentley, the military jeep of the forties, two Morgan cars of 1913-1914, as well as the old 1941 and the sports model Bugatti.

"These representatives of a bygone era are characterized by unique originality and elegance; they are highly appreciated by our customers, known for their love of exquisite luxury," says Sabina Handvani.

Emirate motorists find inspiration not only in antiquity, but also in modern times. In October, the eighth annual Motorshow awaits them, where all the latest design ideas will be presented. Last year, this event attracted 75 thousand guests who came to see the products of 65 manufacturing companies. This time, judging by the success of the exhibition at the BurJuman Center, there will be much more of those and others.?
