Alien Spends Three Years In Dubai Prison For Stealing Rolex Watches

The British man was sentenced to three years in prison in Dubai for stealing a Rolex watch from a compatriot.

The 29-year-old Briton, who stole a watch worth 36 thousand dirhams ($ 9.8 thousand) and his compatriot’s passport from a hotel room in the Dubai Marina district, lost the appeal. He will spend three years in prison.

The man committed the crime along with another suspect, who is still at large.

A Dubai court of first instance found the Brit guilty of stealing and entering the victim’s room. The defendant tried to appeal the initial decision in the Court of Appeal and did not plead guilty, citing the fact that he was too drunk at the time the crime was committed, and the victim himself invited the suspects to the room.

The presiding judge dismissed the defendant's appeal and upheld the decision already made. The Briton will be deported after serving a prison term.

The victim claims 21 thousand dirhams ($ 5.7 thousand) in compensation for moral and financial damage.

The victim testifies that the incident occurred shortly after he decided to sell his Rolex watch.

I sat on the sofa and asked him to sit down as well ... but instead he ran to the door and opened it. Then the accused came in. The latter talked loudly and rudely to me. He ordered me to give him the clock, ... then he asked me to open He took my passport, and then, before they left, the accused said that I had to pay them 300 thousand dirhams $ 81.7 thousand to return the passport. Then he spread white powder on the table ... The accused told me that I had there will be trouble because of this white powder, if I dare to call the police, "the victim said.

The identity of the accused was determined by the numbers of the rented car, which were recorded on the video camera of the hotel.
