UAE's largest eco-project will provide clean energy

Disclosed are plans to provide the largest eco-reserve of the United Arab Emirates with green energy.

The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has announced plans to provide Al Sarmoom with six sustainable development projects.

Launched by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and ruler of Dubai, Al Marmoom Nature Reserve should become the UAE's largest environmental tourism and eco center that attracts a million visitors annually.

The reserve, which will be home to a large number of plants and animals, as well as local and migratory birds, will feature more than 20 projects implemented by nine government organizations.

DEWA projects include the use of clean energy from the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, the largest solar energy project, to protect the environment and promote sustainable development.

DEWA also plans to install solar panels on the rooftops of the reserve and connect them to the network as part of the Shams Dubai initiative. The project will also include electric vehicle charging stations, smart meters, interactive screens, and smart environmental sensors. DEWA will also develop an advanced water infrastructure at Al Marmoom Reserve that meets the highest international standards, the statement said.

DEWA spokespersons say management is pleased to be involved in projects that support green initiatives.
