Universities of the UAE rose in the world ranking of universities

Higher educational institutions of the UAE have risen in the international ranking of universities "QS World University".

A number of UAE universities have risen in the authoritative ranking of educational institutions "QS World University". In addition, Sheikh Zayed University and Ajman University were first included in the list of the best institutes in the world, thus, there are currently eight universities from the UAE in this ranking.

The university ranking "QS World" is a kind of independent assessment of the work of a higher educational institution. The latest QS World reports include 1011 universities from around the world. The assessment criteria include: academic reputation, the ratio of employees to students, citation of the teaching staff, the reputation of the university as an employer, the number of foreign students and employees.

Zayed University ranked 701-750 in the new ranking, and Ajman University ranked 801-1000. Khalifa University climbed 136 places and reached 315th place, making it the highest rated institution in the country and fifth in the region.

The UAE University took 350th place, sixth in the region, and the American University of Sharjah - seventh place, taking the highest position in its history - 376th line.

Dr. Tod Laursen, president of the University of Khalifa, said the goal of the school is to enter the "top 200 universities in five years."

Dr. Laursen explained that the university has risen in ranking thanks to the union of the Masdar Institute of Science and Technology, the Petroleum Institute and the Khalifa University of Science, Technology and Research last year.

"The teaching staff of the university did not exceed 200 people," said Mr. Laursen. “Now the total faculty is over 400 people.”

"This rating takes into account the number of published scientific articles, and how often they are cited. A university can rise in the rating if it has enough teachers involved in scientific work. We assumed that our positions in the ranking would grow. Our universities are still relatively young "The departments are working decently just to release the required number of publications, it takes time."

Khalifa University praises its international faculty.

"We are a young university, people just don't know much about us," said Dr. Laursen. - We still have to do some marketing work to become the most visible in the international arena. We have every chance to continue to grow. "
