Following the aesthetics of the legendary designer, Karl Lagerfeld in collaboration with the ex-editor of the French magazine "Vogue" Karin Reutfeld organized the exhibition "The Little Black Jacket", dedicated to the famous black jacket from Coco Chanel. The exhibition, which takes place in Dubai from April 27 to May 11, presents photographs taken by Karl himself, where famous figures from the world of fashion, show business and cinema pose in a black jacket.

1954 year. Catchy, on the verge of vulgarity, modern fashion is full of excesses. Indiscreet cutouts, tuxedo fru-fru dresses, a reflection of the 1940s, often deprive young designers of motivation to create original collections.

Gabrielle Chanel 71 years old. She performs a clever trick: reopens the Haute Couture House, whose philosophy reflects the genius of the designer in terms of elegance, minimalism, straight lines of cut. Her logic works flawlessly.

“I would like to give women more freedom of movement so that they do not feel constrained in suits and do not change their behavior and manner depending on the dress they wear,” said Mademoiselle Coco.

In Scotland, where she spent her youth with the Duke of Westminster, Chanel discovers for herself the foundation of the future creation - tweed. The skirt suit-two is destined to be cut precisely from this material.

The jacket, the design of which is inspired by men's fashion, is straight and without lapels, and the skirt is the most optimal length to the knee. Such an ensemble was to give its mistress absolute freedom. 4 pockets with contrasting pigtails, buttons with Chanel engraving and, finally, a thin chain sewn to the bottom of the lining, which guaranteed a perfect fit of the jacket.

Once again, the extraordinary Coco Chanel revolutionizes the world of fashion. The original design idea was a huge success, and the international press, hungry for innovation, announced a suit from Chanel as a model of style. Having become the main theme of the media and the cover of prestigious glossy magazines, the jacket attracted a new wave of clients to the Design House. the most beautiful women on the planet - Bridget Bordeaux, Grace Kelly, Romy Schneider - put on a jacket from Chanel.

1988 year. In politics, culture and fashion, the ideology of "abundance" reigns. The new art director of Chanel Karl Lagerfeld takes over the Paris studio Chanel and begins to "play" with the code of the famous House. For many seasons, the jacket is combined with skirts, contrasts with jeans, is decorated with embroidery and is reproduced in a variety of colors: classic black and white, delicate pastels, as well as “rich” bright colors. And in fact, the little black jacket from Chanel survived all kinds of metamorphoses.

In the negatives of our time

year 2013. Almost 60 years later, the creation of Gabrielle Chanel, a tweed jacket, is the main element of a modern wardrobe. “It can be worn with jeans, an evening gown, and even with a ballet tutu,” Karl Lagerfeld thinks so.

Some things will never go out of style: jeans, a white shirt and, of course, a Chanel jacket. As a sign of respect for the iconic garment, Lagerfeld published a book with photographs of more than 100 world celebrities, each of whom put it on photographs with the designer.

Personalities such as Kira Knightley, Diana Kruger, Carla Bruni, Mila Jovovich, Karol Bouquet, Tilda Swinton, Yoko Ono, Sofia Kopolla, Kanye West, Sarah Jessica Parker and many others presented the jacket in a completely different way. Stylized by Karin and photographed by Karl, images with a jacket once again prove the existence of the Chanel style outside of time, gender and age.

Finally, after London, New York, Tokyo, Paris, Berlin and Milan, The Little Black Jacket exhibition moved to Dubai, where in the specially allocated spacious The Venue hall at the foot of the Burj Khalifa tower photos with the legendary jacket are presented to everyone.
