According to the UAE National Center for Meteorology and Seismology, visibility on roads, especially near the coast, is reduced to 1000 meters at night and in the morning, which increases the likelihood of accidents and provokes traffic jams.
The Dubai Roads and Transport Committee calls on drivers to be vigilant and maintain a safe distance with other vehicles, and also recalls that traffic in fog with fog lights off is punishable by a fine of 500 dirhams (US $ 137).
The fog also caused delays in the arrival of morning flights to Dubai and Abu Dhabi international airports. Some flights arrived with a delay of more than four hours. At the same time, major carriers such as Emirates and Flydubai have confirmed that they continue to operate normally.
