Over two million people today see the grandiose fireworks show in Dubai

Dubai is preparing hard for the New Year. To ensure safety, thousands of policemen will patrol the city.

Today in Dubai will be held a grand show on the occasion of the celebration of the New Year. About 40 government bodies announced their preparations for a public event, which is expected to bring together over two million people near the highest tower in the world - Burj Khalifa.

A grand firework show will be organized here. Ahmad Thani of Emaar said this year the launch of fireworks will be combined with a laser show. The grandiose action will begin at 23.57 and will last eight minutes.

Dubai and Emaar authorities, Burj Khalifa, have prepared for special celebrations in different areas of Dubai.

Major General Abdullah Khalifa Al-Merry, the Commander-in-Chief of the Dubai Police, said that about 4 thousand police officers and 2 thousand patrols will ensure the safety of residents and visitors of the city.

"The celebration of the New Year is the main event in Dubai. We work with other departments as one team to ensure safety and happiness for people," he said.

Al-Merry said that in the area of ​​the tower and the Dubai Mall, 12 thousand surveillance cameras will operate, 13 tents will be organized for first aid, collecting and issuing lost things and informing people.

The police have a plan to ensure uninterrupted walking, despite an impressive number of guests. Moreover, for families and single people, there are different points from which they can enjoy the fireworks.

“Dubai is ready for the New Year,” concluded Abdullah Khalifa Al-Merri.

Mattar Al Thayer, CEO and chairman of the board of the Dubai Road and Transport Authority (RTA), said his agency was ready to deal with traffic during the New Year event.

"The traffic will be controlled at the RTA control and control center. It is one of the largest and most modern control centers in the world," Al Thayer said.

About 36 operators will work around the clock in the center and control more than 6.6 thousand cameras on roads, in the subway and other types of public transport in Dubai.

Major General Rashid Thani Al Matrushi, Director General of Dubai Civil Defense, said his department has checked all the buildings that will be involved in the show. At all stations 1.2 thousand firefighters will be on duty.

"We will have 600 firefighters in all venues and 114 fire engines throughout Dubai," said Major General Al Matrushi.
