He is responsible for the smiles of Donald Trump, Chloe Sevigny, Sisters Olsen, Damon Dash, Natasha and Malia Obama. A WORKS IN THE CLINIC WITHOUT "UNDERSTANDING SIGNS". AT THE CENTER OF THE BIG APPLE. HE BELIEVES IN THE POWER OF THE MEDIA. IN THE EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW BY THE “RUSSIAN EMIRATES”, MICHAEL APA ACKNOWLEDGED THAT THE TELESHOW ABOUT STARS HELPED HIM TO EXIT TO THE MIDDLE EASTERN MARKET AND BECOME A TREATED DOCTOR ONE SHELL.
You treat Hollywood stars! What brings you to the Middle East?
Michael: The thing is, a few years ago, a member of the royal family of Saudi Arabia watched a broadcast about the stars on satellite television. They mentioned me there. It’s funny, but the world is so arranged! So soon I was already treating the teeth of the sheikhs of the UAE and neighboring countries. I come to Dubai four times a year, working at the Dr Michael's Clinic in Jumeirah. At first it was hard, no one believed in cosmetic dentistry due to a lack of qualified personnel.
Who influenced your professional career?
Michael: My partner is Larry Rosenthal. He is now 64 years old. And we met when I was in high school. It was because of him that I entered the Department of Dentistry at New York University. And thanks to him, I knew exactly what I wanted to do. I never pulled out teeth, did not fill the canals and did not make dentures. I was obsessed with cosmetology dentistry - and studied this subject day and night!
Is a Hollywood smile very different from New York?
Michael: The phrase "snow-white smile" in Los Angeles and New York is interpreted differently. And something that has been joked so actively in recent years is not a movie clip at all! In Los Angeles, for example, people really want to have a brighter and slightly more aggressive look: very blond hair, a big chest and, of course, a dazzling snow-white smile - this is the key to success in the city of angels. At the same time, New Yorkers value natural beauty more. Glitter of enamel here does not blind your eyes! The city center is always lively and very trendy, so the image is so important for people. Everyone wants to have beautiful, healthy teeth, but at the same time they ask that the smile look emphasized naturally.
You are promoting the concept of face lifting. What it is?
Michael: Unlike fellow dentists, I myself create an oral design. I actively work with the patient’s teeth. And most experts send customers to the laboratory. But, in my opinion, laboratory assistants do not have sufficient qualifications and experience to create the perfect design. I can say this because for many years I have been researching their work in orthodontics, plastic surgery and the use of braces. Finally, I managed to find a middle ground in cosmetic dentistry. Now I practice the developed methodology and teach it to other dentists at the University of New York.
How effective is cosmetic dentistry?
Michael: The beauty of the face comes from symmetry. The right features automatically provide the face with great appeal. Imagine that someone has one eye located just below. Immediately there is a feeling of disharmony. Bad teeth give the same effect. But teeth traditionally attract more attention than any other part of the face. And beautiful teeth give the face an additional charm. My task is to understand and identify the cause of tooth problems. And do not put on stream the production of "Hollywood smiles", but correct defects according to the features of the face and make each smile beautiful and individual!
Can you help a patient look younger than his age?
Michael: Of course! And cosmetic cosmetology is one of the most important methods of combating aging. When we talk about age-related symptoms, it is saggy skin, staining of tooth enamel, its wear and brittleness. Even gums can give out age if it is bad to follow them. Therefore, we attack all of these symptoms with veneers. This is an amazing technique! You know, today you need not only to look well-groomed and sleek ... It is important - to feel young and healthy! Of course, teeth are not the only, but very quick and effective method of combating early aging ...
Tell us a little about your customers.
Michael: Among my favorites are great-granddaughter of Ernest Hemingway, actress and model Drey Hemingway, actress and designer Chloe Sevigny, actress Rachel Roy, designers Vera Wong and Tori Birch, sisters Olsen, actress Michelle May.
I maintain friendships with everyone!
What is special about Dubai smiles?
Michael: There are no serious problems. But in general, in the region I observe the problem of enamel staining. The main reason is the large consumption of Arabic coffee and black tea.
What would you recommend to beginner dentists?
Michael: Think outside the box. Work in accordance with their own convictions, and not as usual. The key to success is not to be limited to what is given, but to look for the right answers and solutions.
Please answer a few short questions. So ... your favorite quote?
