The multi-volume project that Boris Akunin is currently working on is called History of the Russian State. The text of the first book from the cycle is already ready: it considers the period before the Mongol invasion. Further, all stages of Russian history will be revealed stepwise. Akunin’s goal is to make her objective, free from any ideological system. Akunin also pays great attention to the reliability of facts.
“My method is simple. I read the available primary sources, trying not to miss a thing, and watch how the information contained there is interpreted by various authors. From all this mass of facts, names, numbers, dates and propositions, I try to choose everything that is certain or, at least, the most plausible. I cut off the insignificant and unreliable, "explains Akunin.
The release date of the first book is still unknown. Boris Akunin suggests that the plan will be realized no earlier than the end of 2013. A lot of time should go into finding an interested publisher and preparing for publication.
Despite the need for a serious approach to the implementation of the project “History of the Russian State”, Akunin is not going to completely abandon fiction. In addition to each historical volume, he will publish a book in which he will give free rein to his imagination. The plot will be closely related to the era in question. Like the History of the Russian State, the project will be long-term and will present a development path for one Russian family.
