Dubai government to build a new zoo worth 150 million dirhams

The Dubai Municipality has launched the Dubai Safari project in the Al Warqa area. Its cost will cost 150 million dirhams (US $ 40.1 million). "Upon completion of construction, all animals from the current Dubai Zoo will be moved to a new menagerie," said Hussein Nasser Luta, general director of the municipality.

The project, the planning of which took about three months, was finally approved by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, vice president, prime minister of the UAE and ruler of Dubai. The municipality has begun preparing the territory. It is expected that animals from other countries will also be purchased for the new safari park. The total area of ​​the zoo will be about 450 hectares. Butterfly park, golf courses and entertainment complexes will also appear on its territory. The project is expected to be commissioned in 2014.
