Dubai lost 16 positions in the ranking, while the capital Abu Dhabi was only 5, which made it this time more expensive city for living compared to its neighbor.
EIU has compared prices for more than 400 consumer goods in major cities around the world.
As a result, Karachi, Mumbai, New Delhi and Tehran were recognized as the cheapest cities. For the first time, Zurich became the most expensive city in the world, followed by Tokyo. The third place in the ranking was shared by representatives of the same countries - the cities of Geneva and Osaka.
It should be noted that this study is compiled for personnel managers of international companies and allows them to determine the amount of compensation payments for personnel in different parts of the world. The report presents data on the cost of living in 140 cities in 93 countries.
