Coconut Island takes shape

After the completion of the reclamation of the territory, the central lagoon of the island was created

ALDAR Properties PJSC, the leading integrated developer of Abu Dhabi, has announced the completion of alluvial work and the formation of the territory of the so-called Coconut Island. This resort island, which will also accommodate housing facilities, is created opposite the western coast of the UAE capital - Abu Dhabi. A large-scale project is being implemented jointly by the ALDAR Group and the National Tourism and Hotel Corporation of Abu Dhabi (NCTG). Its completion is scheduled for 2010.

Recently, the Cocos Island Master Plan and the choice of Denniston International Architects and Planners Ltd. to participate in the project have been approved. In addition, a new lagoon located in the center of the island began to take shape. The next phase of work will include excavation and land reclamation, strengthening the coastline, and, subsequently, the construction of infrastructure facilities and buildings.

Coconut Island will become a 5-star resort of the highest class, comprising approximately 160 guest apartments, from standard to presidential, Spa center, restaurants and a yacht club.

The island has a natural sandbank washed by the turquoise sea waves, which creates excellent conditions for a relaxing holiday. In addition to the resort, the island will have residential buildings, the apartments of which will have three and four bedrooms. It is also planned to build villas with four, five and six bedrooms, from which a wonderful view of the Persian Gulf will open. These villas will only be sold to UAE citizens.

Rami Hreiki, senior project manager at ALDAR Properties, said: “Both the ALDAR group and NTG are interested in the future of Abu Dhabi, as well as in the implementation of modern projects that would provide new opportunities for local residents and tourists. Both partners have invested a lot of effort and funds in the implementation of the first phase of the project, and are determined to complete it as scheduled. "
